We are a short drive from Nundah, and a lot of what comes through the workshop from that direction is a car doing consistent short runs rather than long ones.
Manufacturers publish two service schedules and most owners only ever read one. The standard schedule assumes a reasonable share of longer runs at steady temperature. The severe duty schedule covers stop and start traffic, short trips, heavy loads and towing, and it typically halves the interval. The reason is straightforward. An engine on a short commute never gets hot enough for long enough to boil off the moisture and unburnt fuel that collect in the oil. That contamination is what degrades the oil, and it accumulates by trip rather than by distance. A car covering modest annual kilometres in short hops can be working its oil harder than one doing triple the distance on the motorway.
Why book with us
We will tell you honestly which schedule your driving actually fits rather than defaulting to whichever is more profitable. If your car genuinely does mostly longer runs, the standard interval is fine and we will say so. Everything is quoted before we start, and the logbook is stamped so your history stays complete.
What a short trip actually does to the oil
Every cold start puts unburnt fuel past the rings and into the sump, and condensation forms as the engine warms. On a longer run both boil off once the oil is properly up to temperature. On a fifteen minute commute they never fully do, so each trip leaves a little more behind. Over a service interval that dilution thins the oil and weakens the additive package, which is why the severe schedule exists and why distance alone is a poor guide.

“Pedro and Iury provided a great experience from start to finish. I took my little “Apple Love” there, and even though I don’t know much about cars, they took the time to clearly explain every step of the process, both over WhatsApp and in person at the workshop, which made everything much less stressful and easier to understand. The service was quick, the pricing was fair, and they were also flexible with payment options, which really helped. Professional service, honest communication, and overall a very smooth experience. Definitely a workshop I’d come back to in the future.”
“We have a small car rental company and these legends are caring of our fleet. The workshop definitely have the best car servicing in Brisbane Northside, everything is done with transparency and only made after our approval. Really recommend!”
“Excellent service and quality work. The team was very professional, transparent, and explained everything clearly before carrying out the work. My car was in great condition after the service, and the whole process was quick and efficient. I highly recommend them!”

Common questions
How do I know if I am on the severe service schedule?
If most of your trips are under about fifteen minutes, or you spend a lot of time in stop and start traffic, you are realistically in severe duty territory. Towing and consistently heavy loads count too. Bring the logbook in and we will look at your actual usage rather than applying a default.
Does a shorter interval mean I am being upsold?
It should not, and you are entitled to ask why. The severe schedule is published by the manufacturer, not invented by the workshop, and we will show you where it appears in your own logbook. If your driving does not fit it, we will tell you the standard interval is fine.
My car does hardly any kilometres. Can I stretch the interval?
It is usually the opposite. Low distance driving is often short trip driving, which is harder on oil than motorway kilometres. The time half of the interval matters as much as the distance half.
