Diagnosis is a process, not a guess
A scan tool reports a code. It does not report a cause. A code for a lean fuel mixture can point at a vacuum leak, a tired fuel pump, a dirty mass airflow sensor or an exhaust leak upsetting the oxygen sensor reading. Replacing parts until the light goes out is how people end up paying three times for one fault. We read the live data, test the circuit and confirm the cause before we quote, so the part we replace is the part that was actually broken.
You see what we see
The hardest thing about a mechanical bill is that the customer almost never sees the worn component. We photograph it. Cracked hoses, scored discs, a split boot, a weeping seal, all captured and sent to you before the work is approved. If a part is still serviceable we say so and we leave it alone. Being told your brakes have another year in them is worth more to a long term customer than being sold a job you did not need.

Do I have to pay to find out what is wrong?
Booking the car in costs nothing. Diagnostic work that takes real time on the ramp is quoted to you first, so you always know the figure before you agree to it.
What if you find something else once you are into the job?
We stop and call you. Nothing outside the agreed quote gets done without your say so, so nothing lands on your bill that you did not agree to.
Will servicing here affect my new car warranty?
No. Australian law protects your right to have a car serviced at an independent workshop. We follow the manufacturer schedule and record the work so your warranty stays intact.
Do you work on European cars?
Yes. We regularly service Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen alongside Japanese and Australian makes, using scan tools that read manufacturer specific fault data.
How long will my car be in for?
Most diagnostic and repair jobs are same day. If a part needs ordering we will tell you at the quote stage rather than after the car is already stripped down.
Why is your quote different to the one I got elsewhere?
Usually because the two quotes are not for the same work. One may include parts the other leaves out, or assume a different cause for the same symptom. Ask both workshops what fault they are actually fixing and which parts are included. We are happy to walk you through ours line by line so you can compare properly.
