Geebung is a few minutes away, and clutch work is one of the jobs people most often want a second opinion on before committing.
The reason a second opinion is worth having on a clutch is that the symptoms overlap heavily with much cheaper faults. A clutch that will not release fully, so the gearbox crunches going into first, is very often a hydraulic problem. A worn master or slave cylinder cannot push the fork far enough, and the driver experiences that as a failing clutch. Replacing a cylinder costs a fraction of pulling the gearbox out. Equally, a shudder on take up is frequently oil contamination from a leaking rear main or input shaft seal rather than worn friction material, and fitting a new clutch without replacing that seal simply contaminates the new plate as well.
Why book with us
We check the hydraulics and the pedal travel before quoting the large job, because sometimes the honest answer is the cheap one. If the clutch genuinely is finished we will show you why, and we assess the flywheel at the same time so you are not paying the same labour twice a year later.
The test that separates the two faults
Slip and drag are opposite problems and they are easy to tell apart once you know what to look for. Slip is engine speed rising without matching road speed, and it means the friction surface is no longer gripping. Drag is the clutch not releasing fully, so the gearbox crunches on the way into gear. Slip points at the friction material. Drag points at the hydraulics or the release mechanism, and that is the far cheaper repair. Ten minutes of checking tells us which one you have.

“My car engine was failing and luckily these guys were the closest. Did a great job, very fairly priced. I needed a service too and they gave me that which was very convenient. Happy customer”
“Pedro and Iury provided a great experience from start to finish. I took my little “Apple Love” there, and even though I don’t know much about cars, they took the time to clearly explain every step of the process, both over WhatsApp and in person at the workshop, which made everything much less stressful and easier to understand. The service was quick, the pricing was fair, and they were also flexible with payment options, which really helped. Professional service, honest communication, and overall a very smooth experience. Definitely a workshop I’d come back to in the future.”
“We have a small car rental company and these legends are caring of our fleet. The workshop definitely have the best car servicing in Brisbane Northside, everything is done with transparency and only made after our approval. Really recommend!”

Common questions
Can you tell me over the phone what a clutch will cost?
Not accurately, and we would rather not guess on a job this size. Several cheaper faults produce identical symptoms, so we confirm what has actually failed first and then give you a quote.
Should the flywheel be done at the same time?
We assess it. A dual mass flywheel with excessive free play should be replaced alongside the clutch, because doing it separately later means paying the same labour twice. If it is within spec we leave it alone and tell you so.
How long will the car be off the road?
Most clutch replacements are a full day or slightly more depending on the vehicle. We will tell you at the quote stage, along with whether any parts need ordering, rather than after the gearbox is already out.
