Chermside is a short drive from the workshop, and brake work is among the most common jobs we take from that direction.
Brake shudder gets blamed on warped discs almost every time, and genuine heat warping is actually rare on a road car. What usually happens is that pad material transfers unevenly onto the disc face, building up a layer that varies in thickness around the circumference. From the driver's seat the two feel identical, but they are different problems with different fixes. Uneven deposits can sometimes be corrected by machining, whereas a genuinely distorted disc cannot. The distinction is measurable. Disc thickness and runout both have manufacturer specifications, and checking them takes minutes.
Why book with us
We measure rather than estimate, and we show you the reading. Discs above the minimum thickness with true faces can take new pads on their own, which is a much smaller bill than a full replacement. If yours are below spec we will show you that too, because a measurement is harder to argue with than an opinion.
Bedding new brakes in properly
New pads and discs need a period of moderate braking to transfer friction material evenly across the disc face. Hard stops in the first few hundred kilometres lay that material down unevenly instead, which is the single most common reason a shudder appears on a brand new set of brakes. We will tell you how to bed them in when you collect the car. It costs nothing and it is the difference between brakes that stay smooth and brakes that judder within a month.

“Great experience with this garage. The team was very professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly about the work that needed to be done. The service was completed on time and the price was very fair. It’s great to find a place that is honest and does quality work. I highly recommend them.”
“My car engine was failing and luckily these guys were the closest. Did a great job, very fairly priced. I needed a service too and they gave me that which was very convenient. Happy customer”
“Pedro and Iury provided a great experience from start to finish. I took my little “Apple Love” there, and even though I don’t know much about cars, they took the time to clearly explain every step of the process, both over WhatsApp and in person at the workshop, which made everything much less stressful and easier to understand. The service was quick, the pricing was fair, and they were also flexible with payment options, which really helped. Professional service, honest communication, and overall a very smooth experience. Definitely a workshop I’d come back to in the future.”

Common questions
Are my discs warped?
Probably not, despite how it feels. Genuine heat warping is rare on a road car. Uneven pad material transfer onto the disc face is far more common and feels identical from the driver's seat. We measure thickness and runout to tell which you have.
Do I need discs as well as pads?
Only if the discs are at or below the manufacturer minimum thickness, or the faces are not true. Above that, new pads on the existing discs is a sound repair and a much smaller bill. We show you the measurement either way.
Why do my brakes wear so quickly?
Stop and start driving is far harder on brakes than open road running, because every stop converts the car's momentum into heat through the pads. Distance travelled is a poor predictor of brake wear compared to how many times you stop.
